I'm not going to be one of those writers who posts every time he gets rejected, but since a lot of you read my YA manuscript and since I made my initial submission public, I thought you should know that I received word today from the agent to whom I sent it.
He passed.
He had reasons and stuff.
So here's the bad news: I have to write an actual query letter now.
And here's some good news: Agent Kristin Nelson is on the prowl.

Okay--I just back read your blog to find out how I missed how you subbed your ms without a query letter. I couldn't find what I missed. Explain?
And--that's a bummer about the pass.
Long story short:
A person who reads this blog read a query letter for an earlier novel I wrote. He forwarded it on to an agent friend of his. Agent friend said he'd take a look at the manuscript (it was MG). I revised for him twice, but he ultimately passed on it. In passing, he said he'd look at anything else I had. Months later, I sent him the YA.
So now I have the play the game for real.

I'm sorry to hear it. I'm sure it is disappointing. But you have a great book.
Very interesting link. I wonder if she is write about more women in critique groups. That has certainly been my personal experience.
