Done!

Finished up the YA last night. I've had most of it in pretty good shape for a while now, but I always hated the ending. I'm still not in love with the end, but it's at least respectable enough that I can show it to other people without putting someone else's name on it.

To review, this is the story that is intended to be funny. It is somewhat episodic and I blogged about my concern over that here. For the record, I attempted to at least refer back to episodes that were kind of out there on their own by having something in the episode come up again later in the story. That make sense?

Anyway, the purpose of this post, other than to brag about finally finishing the ending, is to confirm with those people who volunteered to read the thing.

Here's who I have. Let me know if you want on the list or off. I'll take any and all feedback or no feedback at all. It's your game, kids.

Chris
Tina
Anita
and I think Big Plain V, mostly because he complained about missing out on the last one.

I miss anybody?

I'll read it and offer comments, unless you want to wait for another round. Up to you.

Oh, you're probably crying in your Wife's lap right now. How 'bout those Twins???

Nope, not crying. The Tigers got what the deserved. They've had problems coming up with clutch hits all season. My nights will now be free. I can start a new book!

Yes, I'm in. I can hardly wait to see the darn ending.

although i do want in, just cuz i'm selfish, i think you should leave it to more knowledgeable people...

oh, and i should have said 'congrats', PMM. It's true, you do rock.

Congratulations! What a relief it must be to have it all down on paper.

I'm still in.

Though, I have to admit I was cheering for the Twins because I needed a reason to care about the post season this year - I hate all the other teams involved, except for the Twins.

(I'm a Cubs fan, so normally I don't get that luxury.)

Oh yeah, and you can expect to get an email from me tonight regarding Abe Lincoln. I gave up trying to clean up the old fellow about halfway through, he's just too dirty. So you get to see him in all his flawed, filthy glory.

Congrats! Typing 'The End' must have been really satisfying. I'm hoping to follow in your footsteps before the end of the year (is it sad that I have adjusted my revision goals so much that I am speaking in years instead of months--or is it just realistic?)

*speaking to myself* Hurry up and write, dammit!

I've tried the monthly deadlines and I usually end up rushing and writing crap that I have to delete anyway. This book's been "done" since last October, but with the other project and starting new ones and revisions, it's taken me a full year to get to the point where I feel like I can show it to anyone.

And after they all see it and make their comments, it'll probably take another few months.

I also wanted to say that I would be happy to take a look. If you want another reader.

Hey, I'll take a look at it, if you would like to trade for a girly YA that won't be ready for a few months.

Wait, did you really put The Crash Test Dummies down as your favorite music? I was singing "Afternoons and Coffee Spoons" to my kids this morning.

They...weren't impressed. They like "Mmmm" better.

I prefer "In the Days of the Caveman", but your choice is good too.

When you go on camping trips you're stuck right out in nature.

Classic.
